Originally,
Slusser's Green Thumb, Inc., was a hobby. Cecilia Slusser
was spending her spare time and weekends developing greenhouses
because she loved growing and caring for plants. Over time,
her hobby became a business. Cecilia was operating a garden
store, nursery, and landscaping and lawn maintenance company
by the turn of the decade.

In 1976, Samuel C. Gray, a pioneer in the seeding and
sodding business, approached the Slussers about taking over
his construction accounts. He wanted to retire, but was determined
to see his business carry on. The Slussers agreed, and after
being introduced to the bidding process with the Indiana Department
of Transportation, Slusser's Green Thumb, as it's known today,
began.

Eventually, the retail garden and landscape aspects of
the business gave way to the full-service Highway Seeding
and Sodding operations. Government environmental regulations
in 1991 prompted the addition of the Erosion Control Services.

Over the course of time, Slusser's Green Thumb has evolved
and flourished because Cecilia's original passion led the
way. Today, the same values and traditions that tie the family
together also continue to serve the business. Because of this,
we're proud to offer you the most responsive and efficient
service with the highest integrity.
